You're not the first person to leave the ignition on and I'm sure you won't be the last.
I NEVER use the killswitch. I always switch the engine off using the key. If you got into this habbit, you would never leave your ignition on again.
The killswitch is intended for energency use only. This is stated in the Owners Handbook. Years ago I had a Honda and always used the killswitch to turn off the motor. Eventually I burned out the killswitch. There is electrical arcing in the kill switch when it's used (said the man in the Honda shop) and that's why Suzuki (and Honda) say emergency use only in their handbooks.
I learned the hard way about regular use of the killswitch.
